About Me
Welcome to my personal page! I am Spyros Oikonomidis, currently a Post Doctoral Research at the NKUA Seed Bank, Athens, Greece. My research interests lie primarily in the areas of: 1) Orchid seed biology 2) ex-situ plant conservation 3) plant trait evolution.
I received my B.Sc. in Biology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) on 2019 and my Ph.D. on orchid seed biology and conservation from the same university on 2024. Since 2019, I have worked in 19 funded research programms and several non-funded projects in collaboration with members of: 1) the NKUA Seed Bank, Athens, Greece as well as other members of the Section of Botany of the NKUA, 2) The Institute of Mediterranean Forest Ecosystems, 3) Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania, and 4) The Natural Enviroment Climate & Change Agency, Athens, Greece 5) The Forest Research Institute, Thessaloniki, Greece 6) The Department of Forestry and Natural Enviroment, Democritus University of Thrace, Drama, Greece. 7) The Millennium Seed Bank (RBG, Kew), Wakehurst Place, England 8) The A. Takhtajan Institute of Botany, Armenian National Academy of Sciences, Yerevan, Armenia.
